Mike started Flat Fee Movers in 2014 with one truck after 15 years watching hourly movers overcharge Sarasota families. Today the company has 9+ crew members and two offices.
I started in the moving industry over 15 years ago as a mover on a crew in Southwest Florida. I worked for two different hourly-rate companies. At both, the pattern was the same: customers got a low estimate, and on moving day the bill doubled because the crew took longer than projected or surprise fees appeared for stairs, long carries, and fuel.
I watched customers cry. I saw couples argue about money in front of the crew. I saw elderly residents who had budgeted carefully get hit with charges they could not afford. An 88-year-old woman in Bradenton got a bill $400 over the estimate. She had to call her daughter for money. That was the moment I decided to build a moving company that works differently.
In 2014, I started Flat Fee Movers with one truck and two guys. The concept was simple: give people one number before moving day, and that number never changes. No games. No hidden fees. No watching the clock while strangers handle your life.
Today, we have a team of 9+ crew members, two locations in Sarasota and Bradenton, and 90+ five-star reviews from real families.
